Privacy policy

Last updated November 4, 2026

Short version: you do not need an account and we do not run ads. We use Google Analytics to count visits only if you click “Allow” on the banner; if you don't, the site sets no cookies and sends nothing to Google. The zip code lookup and search run in your browser.

What we collect when you visit

  • Server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider records standard request data (IP address, browser user agent, the page requested, referring page and time) to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems. These logs are kept for a limited period by the host and are not used to identify or profile visitors.
  • Analytics, only if you allow it. We use Google Analytics 4 to learn which pages, searches and tools people use, so we know what to improve. It loads only after you click “Allow” on the banner, and if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we treat that as “No”. When allowed, Google sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_*, lasting up to two years) and receives the pages you view, the site that referred you, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and the events listed below. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, and we do not link this data to any other data or use it for advertising. Data is kept for 14 months. Google processes it under its privacy policy.
  • Events we record. With your permission we record: the name you searched for and the result you picked (searches that are a zip code are recorded only as “zip code”); when you use the “who represents me” lookup, the state and whether you used a zip code or the picker, never the zip code itself; and when you open a one-picture view. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.
  • No other trackers. No advertising or social-media trackers. Fonts are served from our own domain.
  • Email. If you email us, we keep your message and address to answer you and to track corrections. We do not add you to any list.

People named on this site

This site names political committees, candidates, organisations and people who gave large sums to political groups. Everything shown about them comes from public reports filed with the Federal Election Commission, which federal law requires to be made public. For individual donors we show only the name, employer, occupation and state that appear in those filings, and only for people whose reported gifts to the groups we track reach several hundred thousand dollars in a cycle. We do not show street addresses or zip codes.

Because these are public records about elections, we generally do not remove accurate entries. If something about you is wrong, for example two different people with the same name were merged, or the employer is out of date, email us and we will check it against the filing and fix it. See Corrections.

Contributor information copied from FEC reports may not be sold or used to solicit contributions or for commercial purposes (52 U.S.C. 30111(a)(4)). We do not do either, and our terms forbid visitors from doing so.

Sharing

We do not sell or share visitor information. Google receives analytics data, as described above, only from visitors who allow it. We would disclose information otherwise only if the law requires us to.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it or to have it deleted. Email corrections@followthemoney.ai and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes

We will post any changes here and update the date at the top.
